26 year old graphic designer Matthew Dent has just been chosen as the winning designer of the new face of British Currency. Featuring the Royal Coat of Arms the design is spread over the smaller coins, 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p & 50p, with the £1 coin featuring the whole image.
Manufacturing has started and the Royal Mint will be producing over 1 billion coins a year to replace the 27 billion coins already in circulation, as they become old and worn out.
